About

After working as a salesman and buyer in retail furniture for ten years, Ryan Gledhill, CEO and founder of Timber Designs, turned his frustration with overpriced and under built log furniture into a dream come true. On a leap of faith he quit his job, drove up into the mountains, and hauled home some twisted Aspen logs. Renting a 300-square foot storage unit, and using nothing more than some hand tools, he began crafting log beds. The relationships he had built as a former buyer in retail furniture aided him in getting the attention of some major retail furniture stores. The store executives loved what they saw and with their incomparable craftsmanship and competitive pricing, the beds were an overnight hit.

In eight years, Timber Designs has moved seven times from a 300-square foot storage unit, to a 25,000-square foot warehouse. Located in the pristine Wasatch Mountain Range, loggers supply the company's wood shop with the highest quality logs almost weekly. The wood shop's family of artisans and woodworkers then craft each piece with a variety of hand tools and machinery invented by the founder himself.

In the beginning there was one dream, one style of bed, and one little storage unit. Now the company boasts over 200 log furniture products. "It's been a crazy journey," says Ryan. "We've built pieces we shouldn't have, and even developed entire lines that didn't pan out. But the mistakes have only perfected the quality of our products. Happily, everything has worked out and we are still growing strong."

In 2008, Jenifer Tringham-Freeman took over as the owner of Timber Designs. Since then she has helped introduce several new furniture pieces, and Timber Designs continues to grow, having moved to an even larger warehouse in the fall of 2008.

There is richness and majesty in every hint of color, every characteristic and curve of this unique Aspen log furniture. We hope you enjoy the diversity of our collections.
