The design of our bunk beds complies with federal safety standards. It is important that the thickness of the mattress and foundation combined that you use on our bunk beds do not exceed 12 inches. By doing so, it will secure the safety of those sleeping on the top bunk and will allow for plenty of room between the top of the mattress and the top of the guard rails. As a foundation, we recommend using a Bunkie board that you are able to find at your local mattress retailer. Our bunk beds are equipped with a built in ladder on the footboard to provide easy access to the top.
